Peacock in the Palace
LIFE
This picture was taken at the Falaknuma Palace in Hydrabad, India. Perhaps the most fascinating fact about the peacocks at Falaknuma is their heritage. The current population—numbering over a hundred—consists of descendants of the original birds kept by the Nizams during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. According to local tradition and palace staff, no "new" peacocks have been introduced to the property for decades. The muster has thrived naturally on the hilltop for over a century.
