Torres del Paine National Park
EARTH
Torres del Paine National Park, located in southern Chilean Patagonia, is one of the most spectacular natural reserves in the world, celebrated for its dramatic mountain scenery, glaciers, turquoise lakes, and diverse wildlife. Established in 1959 and declared a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978, the park spans roughly 1,800 square kilometers (700 square miles) and is named after its iconic “Torres” (Towers) — three striking granite peaks that rise sharply from the surrounding landscape.
